Spotlight on Safeguarding –

Speaking Out and Consent

This month, we are encouraging all children to understand the importance of speaking out if something feels worrying or unsafe. We remind pupils that trusted adults are always ready to listen and help. We are also introducing age‑appropriate discussions about consent, helping children recognise that everyone has the right to personal boundaries. This includes simple ideas such as asking before hugging, respecting “no”, and understanding that their own bodies belong to them. By building confidence in speaking up and promoting respectful choices, we aim to help every child feel safe, heard, and empowered both in school and beyond.
