Weekly Update

With this week’s announcement that The General Election is set for the 4th July, there is no doubt that the children will have lots of questions to ask in the coming weeks.  I’m looking forward to talking with pupils about democracy, how it works, why it is important and how we all have a stake in the process.  As a starting point for discussion at home, there are some resources on the BBC which you may find useful.

The last week of the half-term is a time to celebrate, recognise successes as well as looking forward to next term.  A huge well done to all pupils for their hard work and congratulations to the award winners that we celebrated in the assembly yesterday.

Our Year 4 represented the school excellently as they travelled to Stanchester this week for a primary multisports festival.  It was heartening to see so many former pupils (now in Year 10) as Sports Leaders.

On Tuesday, was the school’s first ever ‘Prayer Day’.  It was a welcome day of calmness, reflection and contemplation.  You could hear a pin drop in the church and the pupils were so engaged and thoughtful as they took part in the activities with Rev Nick and Rev Coelette.

Please see the attached poster about our upcoming poetry competition which is launched today together with some ideas of poems children may choose to illustrate or perform (the dates for the performance are to be confirmed but will be towards the end of July).

Wishing you all a restful and enjoyable half-term break.

Mr Caswell
