“I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the colour of their skin, but by the content of their character.”  —Martin Luther King Jr. (1963)

Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the third Monday in January, honours the famous American civil rights leader who dedicated his life to achieving equality for people of all colours.  He helped to change the world and continues to inspire us to this day.

In classes last week, Willow Class have been thinking about how to help Humpty Dumpty while Birch Class, as Scientists, have been learning all about plants, including changes that happen through the seasons.  Geographers in Hazel Class explored how rivers, seas and oceans transform a landscape through erosion, deposition and transportation.  Meanwhile, as Scientists and as writers, Rowan class can name and describe the purpose of the circulatory system and the functions of the heart, blood vessels and blood.

We learned last week that Mrs Hallett, Higher Level Teaching Assistant who is based primarily in Rowan Class and also works with pupils across the school, will be having a long period of absence to undergo a course of treatment for a long-term health condition.  All our thoughts and prayers are with Mrs Hallett and her family at this time.  Her absence begins today - we have put in place cover arrangements to support pupils and staff.  For example, thank you to Miss Wilcock who will be supporting Mr Kenward to keep Music and Drama club running on a Thursday.

Wishing you all a good week.  Mr Caswell
