The highlight of last week was our Harvest festival in the church.  A huge well done to the children for their readings, prayers and for singing so confidently.  The theme of the service was to celebrate the harvest that comes from trees; from the fruit provided to the life giving oxygen trees produce.  Thank you all for the generous gifts which go to the Lord’s Larder food bank charity.

In October, we celebrate Black History Month we focused in assembly on Mary Seacole and her contribution as a nurse during the Crimean War.

In Rowan Class, pupils enjoyed their trip to Nothe Fort on Monday and have since been writing instructions on what to do during an air raid.  In Hazel, pupils continue to learn about what life was like for Bronze Age people from the round houses they lived in, food they ate and clothes they wore.  In RE, Birch class have been learning about the Ten Commandments.  Continuing their ‘Let’s Explore’ project, our Reception pupils in Willow class have been thinking about constructing homes from cardboard and other resources.

Coming up this week we have the phonics information session afterschool today and the FONS disco on Friday.  A reminder to send entries for the photo contest in by Monday 16th October.

Wishing you all a good week.  Mr Caswell
