Weekly Update
This week:
· Jeans for Genes
· A week of ‘firsts’
· Learning Together Days
· The launch of our photography competition
On Friday it was Jeans for Genes Day. This is all about raising awareness of the daily challenges faced by those living with genetic conditions and raising money to fund projects that make a tangible difference to the lives of those affected by genetic conditions. Thank you for your donations for the charity.
Last week was the first full week at school for our Reception children who have settled in brilliantly to their class routines. It was the first cross country event of the season at Yeovil Rugby Club (well done team Norton and Chinnock!), also our first award assembly of the year where we celebrate the events of the week including recognising pupil achievement and effort with the Headteacher awards.
In these busy first couple of weeks, we look back and reflect on our Learning Together Days on Thursday 12th and Friday 13th September. It has been great to hear about how well Year R, 1, 2 & 3 children learnt together at Norton School, taking part in team-building activities, Art and PE, forging friendships and building confidence.
Likewise, what a way to start the year with our Year 4, 5 & 6 camping trip! Children rose to the challenge brilliantly, helping to pitch tents, wash up and make lunch as well as taking part in apple-themed activities and enjoying being in the beautiful orchards right on our doorstep. Perhaps most memorable of all, a perfectly clear sky and which gave us stunning views of the stars including the Seven Sisters or Pleiades Constellation 410 light-years from earth!
Please see useful dates below for the next few weeks. I will keep these updated through the year to help keep you informed about what is coming up. Finally, I am delighted to launch today our Photography Competition.
Have a good week – Mr Caswell
