Weekly Update

This Friday we look forward to a non-uniform day.  Please bring a cash donation to help raise extra funds for the PFA.  The West Chinnock cake raffle happens each Friday.  We rely on generous and delicious donations each week from parents – please sign up in the shelter if you can help (can be shop bought)!

Over the weekend it has been the Big Bird Watch.  A look on the RSPB website puts House Sparrows in top spot closely followed by Blue Tits.  I wonder what birds we’ll see at school this coming week.  Pupils, supported by Ms De La Hey, are putting bird feeders in place.

It’s been encouraging to see such lovely reading and writing by our Year R seedling pupils this week with pupils doing a great job sequencing stories.  Our Year 1 and 2 pupils have been demonstrating their super maths skills wowing Mrs Tripp with how much they have remembered about number and measurement.  Meanwhile, the diary entries made by Oak class have been well thought out and written in character; the pupils continuing to be inspired by the Children of the Benin Kingdom by Dinah Orji.

Next week sees the return of cross country (for Years 2-6) with an event at Yeovil Showground on 7th February.  We hope to see as many of you there as possible to help the team do well. Have a lovely week.  Mr Caswell
